(we were lucky enough to get a quick walking tour of the fabled moray place from our hostess--thanks, naomi).the rooms are light and pleasantly furnished, the beds comfortable, and the hot water plentiful. naomi provided a good breakfast with fruit, yoghurt, cereals, and "full scottish" if you can manage it (which we did both mornings!). i recommend 7 gloucester place to you as a charming place to stay. may 2010 charming b&b; in edinburgh 18th century "new town" well located a bit downhill from princes street. naomi jennings and her husband are very good hosts. we had the delightful big room at top of house (many stairs!). would certainly stay there again. mar 2009 enjoyable this was recommended in the guardian. very much a family house. elegant central and quiet. an intimate and friendly atmosphere. not cheap but good value feb 2018 annie, london this is a lovely place to stay, i was sorry to leave a cosy huge bedroom with fresh daffodils, lots of good books, tray of goodies, comfy bed and super bathroom. naomi is a welcoming and gentle host. her home is full of artwork, all is relaxing and gracious. breakfasts there are super-fresh and a make for good start to busy days in edinburgh, where everything is within walking distance. this is a good area too, for finding restaurants and pubs in the evenings, when you're ready for staying close to home. aug 2017 lorenzo, roma a quiet retreat from the hubbub of the festival to the most exclusive area of georgian edinburgh. sitting at a long table for breakfast (everything but starting with freshly squeezed orange juice and fresh fruit salad) naomi listened carefully to our comments on edinburgh festival events and helped us chose others. having a culturally aware hostess who is "in the know" about what is going on around was a priceless benefit. we'll be back. oct, 2017 barbara, winchester this was just our sort of place. extremely comfortable and individualistic. we appreciated the artwork and books. we had a lovely room at the back looking out over new town gardens. breakfasts were very good and our hosts could not have been more welcoming. the area is very interesting and all parts of the city can be easily accessed by foot. it might not suit someone who likes minimalism and de luxe bathrooms, but for us it was a home from home and our ideal for a temporary stay. feb 2017 henrietta, london my boyfriend and i had a thoroughly great time here. naomi was welcoming and very accommodating, and made us feel at home immediately. they have a beautiful home - and the breakfast really is delicious! i've already recommended it to friends. feb 2017 michael, bristol naomi, the owner, was very welcoming and helpful with ideas on what to do, where to eat and drink and with directions. her beautiful home has many interesting paintings and artefacts. it is very comfortable and ideally located, a few minutes walk away from the 'biz' of stockbridge with its individual shops, restaurants, bars and a high quality sunday morning street market. it’s a 15 minute walk to princes street. breakfast was lovely with fruit, porridge and a full cooked scottish if required, or any combination. naomi catered admirably for a gluten-free diet requirement. being two minutes' walk to stockbridge and a five- to 10-minute stroll uphill to the shops and cafes of george street. with a glamorous georgian setting, 7 gloucester place ticks all the right b&b; boxes, with cosy, comfortable rooms and lovely touches of classical edinburgh bling. if you're in search of more of the latter, you'll enjoy heading to bed via a grand walnut and mahogany staircase, lit by a giant oval cupola. architectural historians should book room two, which comes with (private) access to an amazing mustard and black-tiled 1930s bathroom.
